Dear Diary,
I killed him-
Suddenly a police squad storms into Andi’s small, dingy, rat infested apartment. She drops her pen in shock. The police officers rush toward her and throws handcuffs on her.
“What are you doing?” said Andi.
“Shut up!” said one of the police officers.
“You can’t do this! I have rights. This is still America, you know,” said Andi while she struggles to get loose from the police officer’s grasp.
“And…I DON’T CARE!”
“LET ME GO.”
“NO!!! Shut up.”
Andi stops struggling to get free from the officers and without another word, the police drag Andi out of her apartment. Even though the police squad do not say anything, she knew why she was being arrested: The Murder of the Infamous Mr. Waters. A year before, Andi was sixteen and she had a little sister,Anaphora. Andi and her family lived in a small apartment in Miami in 2777. The sun hides deep in the gray clouds and soot is thick in the air. The roads are knee deep with trash. Rodents play like little children in all of the trash and waste. The beaches are land fills. In addition, it is not safe to be outside. Miami has become criminals playground where they play on innocent people. Miami is now the place for two types of people: the poor and criminal. Mr. Walter overthrew the president and designated our city to be the city of the poor and rogue. Since he was rich he did not want a middle class because the middle class can become rich. So he raised taxes and prices of everything. Now Andi and her family were poor. They struggled but they had each other.
Dear Diary,
Today is Tuesday, November 28, 2777 and I wish this day was over or better never happened. My parents are dead. They did not die in a car accident or get ganged up on at the supermarket or get a rare disease that was not covered on the the insurance we could not afford; they died from starvation. they were the greatest parents in the world. They sacrificed for us. My parents worked two jobs each to survive but never had enough so they gave their food to us. I tried to work but no one would hire an inexperience feeble sixteen year. anyway I walk into the kitchen and see both of their sickly bodies. I could see their bones; they looked like they wanted to jump out of their skin. I called the police and after three hours they arrived, proclaimed them as dead(because I don’t know that they are dead because they sat here for over six hours), and they are pulling their bodies away. My sister is torn. She can’t stop crying. But what I am going to do? My parents always knew what to do. Now we are alone and I have to grow up. But I don’t know what to do. But I know my parents would want me to take care of her. I remember the very important lesson they taught us: that love is everything. I would give up all my meals to hear that again. I hate Mr. Walter.
Love,
Andi
She scratched out her last sentence. Andi closed her diary and stared at the floor as the police drag them away.
Dear Diary,
I am not doing to the funeral. Why? Because it is not a real funeral. We are not celebrating my parent’s life. My parents did not have enough money so they are getting thrown in a furnace. The furnace is a giant furnace that they throw poor peoples bodies into. Everyone’s ashes mix together and the memories are gone. Mr. Water should go in the furnace. He killed my parents. He raised all the prices and my parents could not afford food for themselves. They starved. I hope one day someone stands up to that little wimp.
Love,
Andi
She closes her diary. Andi reopens her diary and rips out her recent entry. Then she goes into the other room to check on her sister. Seeing that her sister was happy, she retrieves the news paper ,outside of the apartment door, and searches for a job. After searching for three months, Andi gets a job as a maidservant in a small motel. There are rumors that Mr. Waters is a regular customer and that all of his “financial adjustments” are done there. never seeing Mr. Waters ion the flesh, she didn’t care. Her job was not the greatest but it was sufficient. Unlike her parents, she made enough money to feed her and her sister. Even though it took time, Andi had enough money to put her sister in public school which was big because her and her parents never went to school.
Dear Diary,
I had an epiphany. I was walking home from work one day and I saw a Mercedes Benz. It was crystal blue. I haven’t seen a Mercedes since I was eleven. First I thought it might have been my neighbor ms. Betty. She had a four part plan to get rich. It seemed perfect. But I found out it was not her when I saw a 182 pound man step out of the car and went to Ms. Betty’s house. I released it was one of Mr. Waters minions. You only saw his minions when he wanted his money back. Now Ms. Betty was a very old lady. She was 99 yrs old. She was a very nice lady. She gave anyone a place to stay or food when they needed it. The man after knocking once busted the door open. He pulled the women out of her house and started to beat her for the money. I stared at them like they were a movie. She screamed and screamed. A puddle of blood surrounded her and the man went into her house and takes everything. After he left, I ran to her. It was too late. She was near death. I held her body in my arms. I remember her last words: I felt your heart reach out and that is all I needed. She dies and I cried. At that moment I wanted to help. But if anyone ever interferes in the minions collecting they had the right to kill you and your family. Like my parent ms. Betty was thrown into the furnace. I never noticed but we were killing our own species. It is rich against poor. Mr. Water was willing to kill anyone to get his money. And I am tired of it. Mr. Waters is treacherous. He takes and takes. Now it is our time to take. And I know the perfect thing to take.
Love,
Andi
Andi goes to work the next but she did not clean her usual floor. She decides to clean the top floor, Mr. Waters’ floor. She looks for his room. And his room is obvious. His name is plastered on the door. She walks in with her cleaning cart. She looks for him. She was planning to poison him but her plans changed when he walked in. Mr. Waters is a tall, olive skinned man. He is wearing a pinned stripe shirt with a top hat. Mr. Waters took a liking to her. With his snake eyes, he watched Andi as she pretends to clean up. When Andi bends down to pick up paper off the floor, Mr. Waters pull her closed but she pushes him away. As Mr. Waters pulls Andi closer again, she slapped him. His tan hand clutched her neck. Andi kicked Mr Waters. He released, shocked that a girl had that much power. She grabbed her broom and beat him with it.
“Do you know who I am?” said Mr. Waters
“Yes,” said Andi.
“Who?” said Mr. Waters
“Dead,” said Andi.
She grabbed a steel mop and as she charged toward Mr. Waters, she tripped on her shoe lace. To gain balance, she grabs her cart but ends up pushing it. She pushed it with full force toward Mr. Waters and sends him through the window. He plummeted 20 feet down into the pool. His body floated in the pool like an fallen angel. Andi, scared out of her mind, runs with full force. She went home, took a bath, and tries to rationalize the murder. A year passed and she did not get caught. She decides to go back to work and provide for Anaphora. But one day as she was writing in her diary, suddenly a police squad stormed into Andi’s small, dingy, rat infested apartment. She dropped her pen. The police officers rushed toward her and threw handcuffs on her. Without another word the police dragged Andi out of her apartment with out a trial she was thrown in jail. Suddenly, hundreds of newspapers covered a article about her and the murder. These articles spread and Riots exploded like volcanoes. People refused to leave the prison ground to Andi was released. People protested for her freedom. Citizens came together and host town meeting. Some extremists raid the wealthy part of town. The people thought she was abolishing a government that was not great or the country. Andi heard of these riots.
Dear Diary,
I heard of the riots. People wonder why I killed him. I did for future generations. I did it for Anaphora and my parents and Ms. Betty. As a people I think that we need to fight. This is the respected time.
Love,
Andi
Waiting for her punishment beside being in jail, Andi sits and stares at the three white walls. Her diary sits on her lap, open, and she seem to can’t get away from the horrid sounds of the other prisoners. An 6’4 male walks up to her cell. She stands up quickly with her back straight and the little hairs on her neck sticking up.
“You are sentenced to death,”said the man.
“What?” said Andi
“Tomorrow, you are going to die by gun shots.” The guy walks away.
Andi’s eyes swell up with tears but she does not cry. She closes her diary and continues to stare at the three walls. In the afternoon, she was let out of her cell and lead to the field. She looks around and sees a lot of prisoners were here today. Instead of engaging with the other prisoners, Andi walks to the corner of the field. The field is enclosed by the gate. Outside of the gate, there is a endless ocean of grass, flowers, and birds.
Dear Diary,
I am going to die tomorrow. Revenge is not always the answer. Now I am not going to see my sister again. BUT I am proud because I have shown her to fight want you believe in and fight for what is yours. I know that the fittest( the rich) are suppose to survive but if we do not fight we do not have a chance. So I bid an adieu to my sister and I just hope that she understands my message and that I love her with all my heart.
Andi closes her diary and throws it over the gate. Andi sits in peace. A few days later, Anaphora finds her sister’s diary while walking around the prison gate. She stared at the book, she touched its smooth cover and placed to her nose and it smelled like her sister. Anaphora goes home to her family’s apartment and sits to reads her sister’s entire diary.
“I want to be just like my sister,” Anaphora says as she closed the diary. Anaphora places the diary on the table and runs to join the protest for equality.
